We would like to establish cooperation with schools educating students between 13 and 16 years of age. The following are a few facts about us.
HISTORY OF SCHOOL AND TRADITIONS
Fryderyk Chopin Junior High School no 16 in Lublin was set up on September 1st, 1999 as a result of the new educational reform in Poland. Our new establishment has been located in Fryderyk Chopin Primary School no 16. The traditions of our school go back to 1910 when a Private School for workers' children was set up in Bronowice district. Although Fryderyk Chopin Junior High School no 16 is a new school, we do not forget about our historical heritage. The school year 1999/2000 was very important for the whole school society. Enthusiastic work devoted headmasters, teachers, students and their parents, as well as administration and technical workers, determine the beginning of new traditions.
LOCATION
Our Junior High School is located in a modern building. It was opened on September 1st, 1983. There are 30 classrooms and 3 computer rooms for our students equipped with modern audio-visual and didactic facilities. Classes are held in the following rooms: Technical, Computer Lab, Science, Geography, Art and Music. The school has a canteen where students and teachers can have lunch. The advantage of our school is a Sports Centre, which consists of a gym, swimming pool, football pitch, basketball and handball courts, "green gym" and a tennis court.
Not only do the headmasters and workers of our school feel responsible for the school, but also the students' parents, who are very helpful in redecoration and general organization from the very first day of the school's existence.
THE BOARD OF HEADMASTERS
Ms. Barbara Warda, MS is the Headmaster of Fryderyk Chopin Junior High School no 16. She has completed economic training and gained broad experience as a university teacher, a teacher at School of Economics, vice-director, and methodical counsellor of economic subjects. She has also done various forms of professional training, including those connected with the new educational system reform. The Headmaster has been creating Fryderyk Chopin Junior High School no 16 since the very beginning and with great commitment she shapes the model of a new, up-to-date Polish school.
Ms. Ewa Barszcz, MS and Krystyna Mułenko, MS act as Vice-Directors. They are a Math Teacher and Polish Language Teacher respectively. They both have high professional qualifications and support the Headmaster in all school matters.
BOARD OF TEACHERS
In accordance with the new educational system, Fryderyk Chopin Junior High School no 16 guarantees our students high standards of education by employing professional teachers. All of the teachers possess university degrees and pedagogical training. Many of them have completed postgraduate studies and have got special degrees. Teachers are well prepared to introduce the new educational reform. They use modern teaching methods of activating students in the process of learning. Sixty teachers employed in our school are still improving their qualifications and take part in various kinds of professional training.
WHAT SCHOOL OFFERS
940 students in 33 forms gain knowledge and skills during classes which have an obligatory program base. Teachers from different areas of studies have chosen special programmes as well as appropriate books.
Apart from being enrolled in obligatory courses, students can learn how to work for the society by active participation in the Students Government. The youth develop their interests in the following extracurricular activities: Polish Language and Literature, History, Maths, Arts, Geography, Science, Ecology, Computer Science, and English Language. Those who are musically talented sing in the choir "La Musica". Sports enthusiasts are given an opportunity to train football, handball, volleyball and swimming.
SOME ACHIEVEMENTS OF FRYDERYK CHOPIN
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL NO 16 IN LUBLIN
The School has had many significant achievements in a very short period of time. Our students were highly rated in various competitions and contests. They received many prizes and were distinguished by the local city authorities. The most famous prize winners are:
- - "La Musica" choir led by Mr. Zdzisław Ohar, MA
- - Polish Language and Literature Club supervised by Ms. Mirosława Zastawny, MA
- - Historical Club supervised by Ms. Krystyna Grykałowska, MA
- - Arts Club supervised by Ms. Lucyna Wróblewska, MA
- - Sports Club supervised by PE teachers: Ms. Iwona Smolińska, MS; Mr. Marek Wawer, MS.
All of the achievements are due to systematical and hard work of all the students, teachers, headmasters, other workers and the students' parents of Fryderyk Chopin Junior High School no 16.
